Ridgefield 300th Anniversary - Art Walk

I'll be exhibiting some of my flower photographs at the Ridgefield Art Walk - Saturday, August 16, 5:30 - 8:30. They will be on display at Rodier Flowers, 447 Main St.

"Main Street merchants acting as gallery owners will host an artist and their work in their store and stores will be kept open late especially for the event. Many businesses will offer special discounts along with refreshments. Artists will be on hand to discuss their art, and all art is available for purchase.

Art Walk Ridgefield will kick off in Ballard Park at 5:30 p.m. with a lively talk about 300 Years of Art in Ridgefield, and maps will be provided showing participating Art Walk businesses. A free raffle of artwork by two talented local artists, Andrea Hutter and Rachel Volpone will also take place."

I am in the process of cleaning up the site...deleting some images, rearranging categories and I also want to update some other things. All flower and plant images are now in "Plant Life" instead of "Studio." "Studio" will just be still life and anything else shot in the studio. Also, all "Visual Poetry" is now in "Abstract." I think this makes things simpler and less confusing.

NYLO Hotel Competition

I won third prize in the "Drive Our Innovation Through Your Passion for Art" competition sponsored by NYLO Hotels. A new NYLO Hotel is opening this summer in Warwick, RI. The judges chose eight of my images to be displayed in a guest bedroom, conference room and loft. The artwork will also be for sale.

They chose some pretty interesting images of mine and should look great in their stylish hotel! I'm glad I could be apart of such a cool project. More details to follow on the reception, etc.

Monique - Senior Portraits

Recently I shot some senior portraits of my sister in law's sister, Monique. I had a whole bunch of ideas but setting up lighting and details in the studio can be time consuming (I'm used to shooting things on a macro level). Monique has a great look to her...the black frame glasses, bleach blonde hair and a very apparent "Monique" smirk. We did some more "natural" lighting shots and then played around with the ring light...which I am a big fan of. Also got a few shots outside when the sun was going down. The Art Walk in Easthampton, MA went quite well! First off, I was the featured artist in an article about the Art Walk in the Daily Hampshire Gazette. Here is a link to the online article.

Below are some images of my work at Remax Hill & Valley on 78 Cottage St. They will hang for about a month.

Easthampton is filled with great shops and the community was very enthusiastic. The Art Walk runs every second Saturday of the month. Check it out if you are in the area.
